Pakistan should give up control over Pakistan-occupied Kashmir

India rebukes Pakistan at the Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting in Geneva, Switzerland

Indian MP Aparajita Sarangi

Geneva (Switzerland) – India strongly reprimanded Pakistan, saying that Pakistan is persistently trying to destabilise Jammu and Kashmir through cross-border terrorism, which is absolutely unacceptable. This response came from Indian MP Aparajita Sarangi during the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) assembly in Geneva, after Pakistan raised the issue of Kashmir.

MP Aparajita Sarangi said,

1. We condemn Pakistan, which raises such political issues on this international platform that do not fall within the jurisdiction of this assembly. Its only purpose is to spread false propaganda and tarnish India’s image.

2. Jammu and Kashmir is an integral and inseparable part of India, and Pakistan must immediately vacate the territories under its illegal occupation. Jammu and Kashmir was, is, and will always remain an integral part of India. Pakistan should now accept this reality.

3. Pakistan should first improve the situation within its own country, where human rights violations and atrocities against minorities continue unabated.

4. Pakistan repeatedly makes false allegations against India, but the truth is that the roots of cross-border terrorism lie within Pakistan itself. India will continue to take a firm stance against terrorism and will make no compromises on this issue.

5. India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty because Pakistan persistently promotes cross-border terrorism. Terrorism and dialogue cannot go hand in hand.
