According to the Election Commission, the objective of this drive is not only to update the voter lists but also to remove names of ineligible entries such as foreign nationals, deceased persons, and those who have migrated elsewhere. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar had first launched this verification initiative in Bihar on June 24th, simultaneously announcing plans to expand it across the entire country.
Editorial PerspectiveGiven the pace at which Bengal is moving toward becoming a ‘mini Bangladesh’, it would not be surprising if this exercise sparks a law-and-order situation there. To prevent this and ensure the safety of Hindus in the state, it is absolutely necessary to impose President’s Rule in Bengal for at least a year ! |
