Palwal (Haryana) – A Muslim youth has been arrested in Palwal, Haryana, on charges of spying for Pakistan. The accused, 35-year-old Taufiq, is alleged to have supplied information about Indian military operations to an employee of the Pakistani embassy in Delhi.
1. According to police sources, Taufiq had travelled to Pakistan 3 years ago. Several Pakistani phone numbers were found on his mobile device. Palwal City Police have registered a case against him under multiple sections, including sedition.
2. Taufiq, a resident of Alimev village in Palwal, travelled to Pakistan in 2022 to visit relatives. During this trip, he met an employee of the Pakistani embassy stationed in Delhi. After returning to India, Taufiq later met this contact again in Delhi.
3. Investigators state that Taufiq began sending details of Indian Border Security Force operations to the embassy staff member via WhatsApp.
4. He allegedly facilitated travel for several individuals to Pakistan and encouraged them to obtain visas for the journey. Previously, police in Nuh district arrested 3 individuals on similar spying charges for Pakistan. In another case, a YouTuber from Hisar, Jyoti Malhotra, was also arrested on espionage allegations.
