Vatican-themed Durga-puja Pandal at Ranchi, Jharkhand

Ranchi (Jharkhand) – R R Sporting Club on Ratu Road has erected a pandal for Durga-puja by spending Rs 85 lakhs which looks like a church. There are pictures of Jesus Christ and Cross signs displayed in this pandal. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has alleged that such a depiction is an insult of Hindus’ faith and it should be immediately changed. Vicky Yadav is the current Chief of R R Club and is a member of ‘Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’ party, presently ruling the State.

Erect like a temple – VHP

VHP’s Jharkhand and Bihar area minister Dr Birendra Singh stated that Mata Bhagavati’s abode cannot be a church but it can only be a temple. By erecting the pandal like a church, the organisers are playing with Hindus’ faith and religious sentiments. It is a ploy to encourage conversions in Jharkhand. The organisers should erect the pandal like a temple.

VHP’s national spokesperson Mr Vinod Bansal also expressed his displeasure over such depiction and stated that it has been done to hurt religious sentiments of all Hindus and to promote conversions. If the organising committee is such a staunch supporter of secularism, it should display a picture of a Hindu Deity in a programme held in a church or a madarasa. There is a symbol depicting Christianity at the entrance of the pandal and there are pictures of Mother Mary and other pictures related to Christianity. VHP’s Jharkhand branch will soon take strict action on the issue. The organisers should pay respect to the religious sentiments of Hindus and remove all Christian signs and pictures from the pandal.

We respect all religions – Claim the organisers    

The organising committee replied that they too are ‘Sanatani’. In 2022, a similar pandal was erected in Kolkata. Now, they have erected it in the same form. They have respect for all religions. (Editorial Perspective – It is a festival of Hindus and only Hindus follow secularism and respect all religions; therefore, they dare to erect such structures; but followers of other Sects always attack Hindus’ religious places and their seats of worship; so also convert Hindus. It is very shameful that still, Hindus promote such self-destructive secularism.)

  • Lack of ‘Dharmashikshan’ and lack of love and respect for Hindu Dharma is the cause of Hindus insulting their objects of faith again and again. It is shameful for Hindus.
