Washington DC, US — Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus of Bangladesh’s interim government has accused India of spreading false information to destabilize Bangladesh. Speaking in New York during the United Nations General Assembly, Yunus described the media landscape as a “festival of rumours,” with incidents being fabricated and mis-attributed, photos being re-used, and reports lacking credible evidence.
Yunus says relations between India and Bangladesh are strained due to the fallout from student protests over the quota system, which led to Sheikh Hasina stepping down in August 2024. He has formally demanded the extradition of Hasina, alleging she faces serious criminal charges, including human rights violations.
Editorial PerspectiveThis is nothing short of a thief’s loud denial ! What unfolded in Bangladesh was not only reported in India but also across the world. Even today, atrocities against Hindus continue there, and it is the Hindus themselves who are presenting evidence of this. In spite of such facts, Yunus — by resorting to falsehoods — is plainly attempting to shift the accusations against him onto India ! |
