Bengaluru (Karnataka) – After the Supreme Court dismissed the petition challenging the State Government’s decision to invite Booker Prize–winning and anti-Hindu writer Banu Mushtaq to inaugurate the Mysuru Dussehra celebrations, Congress Chief Minister Siddaramaiah posted on X. He said, ‘I welcome this decision. Mysuru Dussehra is not merely a religious festival. As we have always said, people celebrate this festival together beyond caste and religion. Still, some people ran false campaigns against it and tried to divide society. Now, with the Supreme Court’s ruling, I feel our Government’s stance has been vindicated. I hope Mother Chamundeshwari grants good sense to those with disruptive ideas that spread enmity across castes and religions’.
Angry reactions on social media
1. One person wrote that welcoming the Supreme Court’s ruling is not enough. Now prove your secularism by having the inauguration of a Muslim or Christian festival conducted by Hindus; only then we will believe you.
2. Another wrote that whatever you say, Mysuru Dussehra is celebrated according to the Hindu calendar. Vijayadashami is observed as the victory of Goddess Chamundi.
3. One user said he is one of the worst chief ministers in the country’s history. It is hard to accept that our traditional festival’s inauguration is being done by a person of another faith.
4. In the Mysuru area there are eight assembly constituencies (Madikeri, Virajpet, Periyapatna, Hunsur, Chamundeshwari, Krishnaraja, Chamaraja, and Narasimharaja), of which Congress won five seats. Someone wrote that this is a fitting punishment for Hindus who voted for freebie schemes.
5. You claim that the judiciary is correct when the verdict is in your favour, while it is under Modi’s control when verdict goes against you.
Editorial PerspectiveThe Congress, which has long practised discrimination against Hindus while appeasing Muslims, is truly spreading caste and religion-based hatred. Since such a Congress is beyond reforms, ending its political existence would be in the public interest ! |
