Stone-pelting incident from a mosque during Ganesh idol immersion procession in Maddur (Karnataka) !

  • Pramod Muthalik barred from entering Maddur on grounds of “disrupting communal harmony”

  • Police order states: “Muthalik’s conduct is socially divisive”

Pramod Muthalik

Mandya (Karnataka), 19th September — Following a stone-pelting incident during a Ganesh immersion procession in Maddur, which sparked strong protests locally, Pramod Muthalik, national president of Sri Ram Sena, planned to visit the town to condemn the attack and bolster Hindu morale. However, Muthalik announced on X that he has been served an order prohibiting his entry into Maddur, issued by the “anti-Hindu state government.” He attached a three-page police order to his post.

Key points from the order:

  • Maddur is currently calm and under adequate police deployment. Pramod Muthalik was expected to arrive there on 19th September.
  • Muthalik is described as a staunch Hindu leader known for provocative speeches that can inflame communal tensions.
  • He is recorded as having over 30 cases registered against him across various Karnataka districts. (The order lists FIR numbers, police stations and related details.)
  • On this basis, the order concludes that his presence is likely to disrupt social harmony.

Conversation with Sanatan Prabhat : Muthalik denies all charges !

In an interview with Sanatan Prabhat, Muthalik said that complaints have been filed against 500 Hindu activists in Maddur. He claimed they had planned only to take lawyers there and provide legal support; no rally, procession or meeting was planned. He accused the Congress of repeatedly pursuing an anti-Hindu policy and said he opposes that approach.

Asked about the list of cases against him, Muthalik said the entire list is false and that courts have acquitted him in those matters; therefore, the ban is an attempt to deceive and defame him. He asked, rhetorically, if telling the truth can be called provocation. He argued that the real provocations were the stone-pelting, petrol-bombing and attempts to instigate clashes from the mosque during the immersion procession — actions that he says warranted a response.

“A violation of our freedom!” — Muthalik

Muthalik said authorities should instead have stopped those who threw stones, those parading with Palestinian flags, and those shouting “Pakistan Zindabad.” Preventing peace-loving groups like Sri Ram Sene from going to encourage devotees, he said, amounts to an attack on liberty and an insult to Dr. Ambedkar. He described the restriction as an anti-historical action.

Editorial Perspective

Is Karnataka a part of India or Pakistan ? Banning Hindu leaders from entering a town in a majority-Hindu state raises this question : are the Congress-ruled states of India sliding toward an Islamic Pakistan or Bangladesh ?
