Balrampur (Uttar Pradesh) – The ATS cracked down on Chhangur Baba, who received ₹500 crore from Muslim countries to operate a conversion racket that systematically targeted poor, widowed, and vulnerable women. The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has filed a chargesheet against two prime accused, self-styled godman Jalaluddin alias Chhangur Baba, and his son Mehboob, in connection with an illegal mass religious conversion racket in UP’s Balrampur. The duo is accused of funding more than 1,000 Muslim men to trap Hindu girls for conversion over the past three years, reports said.

1. The investigation claims that the group was working on a long-term plan to convert people by allurment and threats, with the ultimate aim of turning India into an Islamic nation by 2047. According to officials, the chargesheet includes statements from 29 witnesses, of which 10 are victims who directly faced pressure or coercion. Among them is a woman who has accused Mehboob and his associate, Naveen Rohra, of sexual exploitation and harassment in the name of conversion.

2. The ATS report states that victims consistently testified about the use of both financial enticements and intimidation to push them towards adopting Islam.

3. One victim recalled being repeatedly told that the “entire country must be made Islamic by 2047”. Another woman alleged she was lured to a private room under the pretext of collecting a saree from a shop, where she was assaulted and later pressured to change her religion. Investigators also identified Naveen Rohra as another central figure in the operation. Formerly based in Dubai, Rohra is said to have abandoned his business abroad to focus entirely on conversion activities in India.
