Nationwide call to boycott American products

‘Hindu Rashtra Jagruti Andolan’ in Kolhapur in pouring rain against America’s unjust tariff hike

Hindutva-minded activists participate in Hindu Rashtra Awakening Movement in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, 1st September – In protest against the imposition of an unjust 50% tariff on Indian goods by the United States, various organisations held demonstrations outside ‘McDonald’s’ (next to Hotel Sayaji) in Kolhapur. A call was made to completely boycott American corporate products. Through this protest, the age-old weapon of “Swadeshi” (promoting indigenous goods), used during India’s freedom struggle, was once again brought into action to counter America’s economic high-handedness.

Organisations like Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and other like-minded groups participated in the movement. Mr. Rambhau Methe, a Hindutva supporter, anchored the event. After the protest, a memorandum was submitted at the District Collector’s office, which was received by Tehsildar Mr. Swapnil Pawar. On this occasion Mr. Sunil Samant (Founder, Shivshahi Foundation), Mr. Sambhajirao Bhokare (Deputy District Chief, Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray Group), Mr. Raju Yadav (Karveer Taluka Chief), H.B.P. Mahadev Yadav Maharaj, Dr. Ashwini Malkar (Arogya Bharati), Mr. Kishor Ghatge (Deputy District Chief, Shiv Sena), Mr. Sharad Mali (Karveer Taluka Coordinator, Hindu Rashtra Samanvay Samiti), Mr. Sagar Patil (Yuva Sena), and Mr. Dilip Bhivte (Hindu Ekta Andolan), expressed their thoughts.

Call to boycott American products

As a response to America’s injustice, a boycott of well-known American brands was called for, including McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Domino’s, Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, 7Up, Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, Lays, Amazon, Uber, Netflix, Colgate, Palmolive, and Johnson & Johnson. People were urged to give up American goods and instead take pride in using indigenous products.

America’s offensive attempt to corner India

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and other participating organisations stated that under the pretext of India’s oil imports from Russia, the U.S. is attacking India’s industries, farmers, and economy. While no such tariffs are imposed on China, which imports more oil from Russia than India, the U.S. itself continues to import items like uranium and palladium from Russia.
This clearly shows that the U.S. decision is specifically aimed at cornering India economically.

Demand to boost the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) initiative

The protest also placed major demands before the Indian Government, including:

  • Not to bow down to American pressure and to push for the immediate withdrawal of the unjust tariff through international means.
  • Support for Indian industries harmed by this decision.
  • Boosting the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative to promote domestic production.
  • If the U.S. refuses to withdraw its tariffs, a counter-tariff of 50% should be imposed on American companies operating in India.

Dignitaries present at the protest included:

Mr. Shivanand Swami and Mr. Mahindra Ahire (Hindu Janajagruti Samiti), Mr. Ashok Gurav and Mr. Appasaheb Gurav (Kolhapur District Co-coordinators, Mandir Mahasangh), Mr. Vijay Patil (Vishwa Hindu Parishad), Mr. Kiran Kulkarni (Kagal Taluka Coordinator, Hindu Rashtra Samanvay Samiti) and other Hindutva-minded individuals like Mr. Dilip Dalvi, Mr. Manoj Chougule, Mr. Sambhaji Thorve, Mr. Satish Patil, Mr. Sachin Nagtilak (Yuva Sena), Dr. Shilpa Kothavale (Sanatan Sanstha), entrepreneur Mr. Anand Patil and Mr. Balasaheb Nalawade (Shiv Sena), along with several office-bearers and activists of various pro-Hindu organisations.
