  • Lured with promises of jobs and money

  • Bibles and other proselytizing material seized

Dabra (Gwalior) – A shocking case has come to light in a Navodaya school named Navo Kanti, where students and their parents were being enticed with promises of jobs and money and converted to Christianity. A case has been registered under the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 2021 against 3 individuals; Shyam Narayan, Revika Nanda, and Denzil. Police are conducting further investigations. According to the complainant, his son informed him that Jesus Christ was being preached inside the school. Acting on this, the complainant visited the school on August 25th, where he witnessed 2 unidentified individuals distributing Bibles and other proselytizing material to students. They were also offering inducements for conversion. The incident’s video has circulated widely on social media. Officials from the Education Department later seized Bibles and other material from the school premises.

Serious irregularities exposed in inquiry by Sub-Divisional Magistrate

Taking the matter seriously, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate formed a 3-member inquiry committee. The inquiry uncovered several irregularities in the school. Investigations are ongoing against the school’s director, Ibrahim Kranti, and principal, Anil Nigam.

The school, run by the Navo Kanti Committee since 2012, had its recognition renewed in 2025. Currently, about 70 students are enrolled. Investigations further revealed that a vocational training center, managed by an NGO, was operating on campus without qualified instructors. Moreover, two outsiders were found illegally residing in the school’s residential quarters.

The case has created a major stir in the region, with both the Education Department and police moving ahead with further action.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Given the series of anti-Hindu incidents recently unfolding in Madhya Pradesh, the BJP-led government must take timely and exemplary action against those targeting Hindus.
  • Hindus often fall prey to Christian inducements due to the lack of proper education on Dharma. Hence, Hindu religious organizations must now take concrete steps to impart Dharma education to all Hindus.
