Take immediate action against those responsible – Order of the High Court

Shillong (Meghalaya) – As many as 4,000 tons of coal disappeared from the Government coal depots in Rajaju and Diengnagaon villages of the south-west Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya. Expressing strong displeasure over the matter, the Meghalaya High Court has ordered immediate action against the responsible officials. The report submitted by the inquiry committee headed by Justice B.P. Katke termed it a serious administrative failure.

The administration has started an inquiry into the incident of coal disappearance; however, no concrete action has been taken against any official to date.
‘The coal must have been washed away in the rain ! – Minister’s shocking claim

Reacting to this matter, United Democratic Party leader and Meghalaya Excise Minister Kirmen Shaila clarified that Meghalaya was the state that received the most rainfall in the country. So perhaps the coal was washed away to Assam or Bangladesh due to heavy rains. That was his theory; there was no concrete evidence to support that.
