They were smuggling medicines worth ₹15 lakh while crossing the border

Agartala (Tripura): In an incident near the southern Tripura border, two Bangladeshi smugglers were killed and one injured in a firing by the Border Security Force (BSF) as they attempted to smuggle goods from India. The injured person is undergoing treatment at a hospital. Zakir Hussain Millat and Mohammad Yasin Litan were the two who died, while Mohammad Afsar was injured.
On 26th July, the three were attempting to cross the border into Bangladesh when the BSF intercepted them. At that moment, the smugglers attacked the soldiers. In retaliatory firing, Mohammad Yasin Litan died on the spot, and Zakir Hussain Millat died later during treatment at the hospital. A stock of medicines worth ₹15 lakh was seized from the site.
Indian smugglers also arrested
According to Assistant Inspector General of Police (Law and Order), Tripura Police – Randhir Deb Barma – two Indian smugglers have also been arrested in connection with this case. They are being interrogated to uncover the full smuggling network.
The BSF has handed over the bodies of the deceased Bangladeshi smugglers to the Bangladesh Border Guard. A flag meeting was held at the commandant level, during which Bangladeshi officials expressed concern – not about the smugglers, but about the firing by Indian forces! (Bangladeshi officials showing concern for the firing instead of the smugglers, is outrageous. Such arrogant officials need to be taught a lesson! – Editor.)
Smuggling will not be tolerated ! – India
The Indian Border Security Force made it clear that smuggling on the India-Bangladesh border will not be tolerated under any circumstances. If there is an attack on security forces, retaliation in self-defence becomes inevitable.
Security beefed up at the border

Following the incident, BSF has intensified patrolling in the border areas. Authorities stated that India’s international border policy is one of “Zero Tolerance.” Soon, drones, night-vision cameras, and increased patrols will be deployed to control smuggling effectively
Editorial PerspectiveUntil now, Bangladeshi smugglers were known for cattle smuggling; now they are smuggling medicines too. This indicates that Bangladesh is in dire state and may soon be bankrupt ! |
