Representational image

Chandigarh – Haryana Police arrested 17 Bangladeshis, including two women, from the Gharaunda area in Karnal district. As per Police reports, all of them were employed in various factories. Police suspect that 13 out of the 17 could be infiltrators. According to local media, these individuals will be deported to Bangladesh once investigations are complete.

The Police are also interrogating the factory owners who had illegally employed these individuals without notifying the Government.

Editorial Perspective

If these infiltrators are simply deported without any punitive action, they can easily return and re-enter India. Such toothless measures will have no deterrent effect. Instead, the Police should ensure that they are awarded the death penalty, and this action should be widely publicised. Only then will it instil fear among the lakhs of Bangladeshi infiltrators who pose a grave threat to our nation.
