Hindu official in Bangladesh kidnapped for ransom

After receiving the ransom, the official was tied up and thrown into a field

Victimized Hindu officer Sushant Kumar Majumdar

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – On the evening of July 12, Sushanta Kumar Majumdar, an inspector in the Food Department in Khulna district, Bangladesh, was abducted by Mohammad Reza, Babu Mondal, and three of their accomplices. Disguised in police uniforms, the kidnappers demanded a ransom from him. After receiving the money, they dumped him in an open field.

Out of fear, Sushanta’s family transferred the ransom via a mobile financial service, hoping for his safe return. However, the abductors brutally assaulted him, tied his hands and feet, blindfolded him, and then threw him into a field near B.R.B. Ajagara High School.

After Sushanta’s wife, Madhabi Rani Majumdar, filed a complaint at the police station, the police launched an operation and rescued him. Notably, Babu Mondal had previously demanded money from Sushanta, but Sushanta had refused.

Editorial Perspective

The fact that the Hindu official wasn’t killed is considered a relief in itself ! Will the Indian government finally take up the challenge of addressing the atrocities against minority Hindus in Bangladesh ?
