New Delhi – Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla left for his return journey to Earth at 2 pm on July 14 and will return to Earth at 3 pm on July 15. He spent 17 days in space. At the farewell ceremony on the evening of July 13, he repeated the statement made by India’s first astronaut Rakesh Sharma in 1984. He said, “India still looks more beautiful than the whole world!”

Shubhanshu, along with his three fellow astronauts, was on the International Space Station for 17 days under the ‘Axiom-4’ mission.

What did Shubanshu Shukla say?

1. When I embarked on the Falcon 9 rocket on June 25, I never imagined that this journey would be so incredible. It’s a pleasure to be here.

2. Over the past two and a half weeks, we have been conducting scientific activities on the space station. After that, we spent whatever time we had looking at Earth from the window of the space station.

This is how the return journey will be

Shubhanshu and his colleagues boarded the Dragon spacecraft at around 2 pm on July 14. The separation process from the space station was completed at 4:35 pm. After that, their spacecraft will travel for an estimated 22 and a half hours and land in the ocean off the coast of California at 3:01 pm on July 15, Indian time. This entire process will be automated. The spacecraft’s parachutes will open in two stages – first at an altitude of 5.7 kilometers and then at an altitude of about 2 kilometers, the main parachutes will open.
