Local residents of Roing, in the Lower Dibang Valley district of the state, became aware of the incident and gathered outside the Police station on Friday afternoon, where the accused was detained after arrest. The mob barged inside the Police station, dragged him out and thrashed him, leaving him with severe injuries.

Women decide to kill lustful man after raping a widow

The Police said that the man who was killed had been sexually abusing women for a long time. On 3rd June, he raped a 52-year-old widow. After the incident came to light, the women held a meeting and decided to kill the accused. Police had said that all these women went to the accused’s house. He was sleeping at that time. After that, the women killed the accused by attacking him with an axe and then took his body to the forest and burnt it.

Editorial Perspective

In India, because rapists do not get immediate and severe punishment, mobs are taking the law into their own hands and killing rapists is increasing in many places. Taking note of this, will the Government take steps to prosecute rapists quickly and punish them severely ?
