Expresses that delayed justice is a serious issue

Bhagyanagar (Telangana) – Trials running more than a decade, as well as delayed justice, are serious issues and if they are not addressed, people’s faith in the judiciary can be shaken. There is an urgent need to reform the judicial system; the current system is facing several serious challenges; said Chief Justice of India Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai. Chief Justice Gavai was speaking as the chief guest at the convocation of ‘Nalsar Law University’ in the city.

Addressing the students, Chief Justice Gavai further said,

Chief Justice Gavai

1. Some cases are so delayed that they can last for decades. In many cases, the accused languish in jail for years and are eventually acquitted. This is unfortunate and needs to change.

2. I am optimistic that this will change in the future. My fellow citizens of the country will certainly overcome these challenges and bring about the necessary reforms.  The onus is on the young students studying to bring about this change.

3. Students, to study abroad, need to choose the path of scholarship without putting a financial burden on their parents. Law students should choose a mentor not on the basis of their influence on you but on the basis of honesty.
