Nabi Alam sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a Hindu girl using false promise of marriage

Raipur (Chhattisgarh) – A special Court for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes sentenced Nabi Alam to life imprisonment in a case of rape on the pretext of marriage. He was also fined ₹5,000.

In the year 2022, a Hindu girl from the Scheduled Tribes was living in a rented house here. At that time, she met Nabi Alam Khan. He gained her trust by promising to get her a job and a house. After this, from June 15th, 2022 to September 9th, 2023, the accused repeatedly raped the victim on the pretext of marriage. During this period, the victim got pregnant; however, Nabi Alam forcibly gave her medication and forced her to have an abortion.

The Court, while giving its verdict, clarified that the accused had committed a serious crime by taking advantage of the victim’s caste and social status. Therefore, no leniency or concession can be given in this case.
