
Thane, 29 June – Saqib Nachan, the mastermind of the 2003 Mumbai serial blasts case, and Maharashtra chief of terrorist organisation ‘ISIS’ has died of brain hemorrhage at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital. More than 200 police personnel have been deployed at Padgha village in Bhiwandi, Saqib’s home, to avoid any law-and-order problem after his death and every vehicle coming into the village is being checked.
1. Nachan was arrested by the National Investigation Agency in 2023 in Padgha area of Bhiwandi taluka of Thane district. He was a former member of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).
2. He was convicted for his involvement in the Mumbai blasts. In early June 2024, the National Investigation Agency had filed a charge sheet against him in the Padgha terror module case in Delhi and Maharashtra.
3. A chargesheet was filed against him and 16 others in a conspiracy to recruit youths for terrorist activities, radicalise them and making explosives. He used to send digital files related to making explosives to young people.
4. The investigation also revealed that he was raising funds for terrorism to spread violence and destroy the democratic system in India.
