Wellington (New Zealand) – New Zealand known for its peace and beauty worldwide, is currently in the throes of unrest. Protests are ongoing on the streets here. In this, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, immigrants and Palestinian communities are being targeted. The religious leader Brian Tamaki, is running an organization named Destiny Church. These protesters have committed provocative acts of burning flags of Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and Palestinians. This has tarnished New Zealand’s multicultural image.
New Zealand’s population is estimated to be 53 lakh and this country has always been open to immigrants. The number of immigrants increased rapidly after the Corona pandemic. The Government tried to priorities skilled immigrants such as teachers and doctors, but misconception among local citizens that immigrants were taking away job opportunities from them. This situation created a sense of anger and insecurity among people in the affected communities.
