Conversion plot under the guise of prayer meetings : Pastor arrested

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) incident

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) – In Rahul Vihar Colony here, Police recently arrested a Christian pastor and his associate on charges of luring people into religious conversion. Every Sunday, secret prayer meetings were held in a house, during which Hindus were allured and converted to Christianity.

1. The pastor, originally from Kerala, was residing in Sahibabad. He used to conduct Christian prayer gatherings at the home of Premchand Jatav, a Hindu who had already converted to Christianity.

2. Prabal Gupta lodged a formal complaint with the Police. Acting upon the complaint, local Police raided the house and arrested both the pastor and his associate.

3. Superintendent of Police Priyashree Pal stated that a case has been registeredagainst both accused under the ‘Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act’.

Editorial Perspective

Despite the anti-conversion law in Uttar Pradesh, Christian pastors are openly converting Hindus in broad daylight. If someone now demands death penalty provisions by amending the law, would that be wrong ?
