Washington – Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir is facing huge opposition in the United States. Protests were held on the streets of Washington against Munir. Angry Pakistanis in Washington openly called him ‘Islamabad’s killer’ and ‘Pakistan’s killer’ and shouted slogans against him. Pakistani protesters also chanted ‘We want democracy, not dictatorship’.

Asim Munir is accused of keeping former Prime Minister Imran Khan in prison. Hundreds of young people who are supporters of Imran Khan have also been imprisoned. Human rights organisations claim that more than 3,000 people have disappeared in Pakistan in the name of political dissent between 2023 and 2025.
