Turkiye clarifies on Ahmedabad plane crash allegations

Ankara (Turkiye) – Allegations have surfaced claiming that the recent plane crash in Karnavati (Ahmedabad) was a deliberate act linked to the Turkish aviation maintenance company, Turkish Technic. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev also alleged that the crashed aircraft had been maintained by a Turkish firm and called for a formal investigation into Turkey’s possible involvement.
In response to these claims, the Turkish Information Department has issued a clarification, firmly stating that “our country’s establishment was not responsible for maintaining the aircraft involved in the crash.”
Attempt to strain India–Turkiye relations, says Turkish government
In a statement posted on social media platform ‘X,’ the Turkish Information Department clarified that the maintenance agreement between Air India and Turkish Technic pertains solely to Boeing 777 aircraft, and not to the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner involved in the recent Karnavati crash. The department emphasized that Turkish Technic has never serviced or conducted maintenance on any Boeing 787-8 aircraft operated by Air India.
“We are aware of which organization last serviced the crashed aircraft,” the statement read, “but in order to prevent any misunderstanding, we are refraining from naming it.” The department described the allegations linking Turkish Technic to the crash as baseless and misleading, warning that such claims appear to be part of an intentional attempt to undermine India–Turkiye relations. It further stated that Turkish authorities will closely monitor the spread of misinformation and take necessary action against those trying to tarnish Turkiye’s reputation internationally.
