Kolkata (Bengal) – Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra had made objectionable statements about Shri Kali Mata. No action was taken against her. No action was taken even after Sayoni Ghosh circulated a photograph of her imposing restrictions on the Shivalinga. There are several cases registered against Firhad Hakim, who is a minister; however, no action was taken against him either.

Meanwhile, Sharmistha Panoli made remarks about Pakistan and was immediately arrested by the Bengal Police, criticised Suvendu Adhikari, a BJP MLA in Bengal and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly. Sharmistha was recently arrested by the Kolkata Police for allegedly making objectionable statements while replying to a Pakistani woman who criticised India over Operation Sindoor. Adhikari criticised the Police for this.
