Mumbai – The Veteran writer and screenwriter Javed Akhtar opined that many in the Hindi film industry did not speak against the Government for fear of getting their own secrets exposed. Lyricist Javed Akhtar stated that in an interview; he also added, that insecurity was not limited to the film industry but was also present in other sectors.  Javed Akhtar answered the interviewer’s question, ‘Why did not current actors express their opinions’ ?

Akhtar said, “American actress Meryl Streep criticised the Government from the Oscars stage, but the Government did not raid her house the next day. This was the feeling of insecurity in our country. Hindi film industry’s artists felt scared that the ED, CBI or Income Tax Department might raid and expose their secrets.
