Islamabad (Pakistan) – Protesters opposing a new canal project in Pakistan’s Sindh province hurled tomatoes and potatoes at the convoy of Khail Das Kohistani, the country’s Minister of State for Religious Affairs and a Hindu by faith. The incident took place in Thatta district as demonstrators raised slogans against the government.
Fortunately, Minister Kohistani was unharmed in the attack.
Following the incident, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif personally called Kohistani and assured a thorough investigation. “Any attack on an elected representative is unacceptable. Those involved will face strict punishment,” he said.
