Accused Nazaruddin arrested, search on for other accomplices

Agra (Uttar Pradesh) – Tension flared in the area after the meat of an animal forbidden in Islam was found thrown inside the Shahi Jama Masjid by unknown individuals. When Muslims arrived for Friday prayers, they discovered a polythene bag near the wuzu (area for ablutions before prayer). It was revealed that the bag contained the said meat. The Police were immediately informed.

The Police appealed for calm among the Muslim community. Within just five hours of investigation, the Police arrested a Muslim named Nazaruddin in connection with the incident. The probe is ongoing to determine how many others were involved in this conspiracy.
At present, heavy Police deployment has been arranged in the area. CCTV cameras have been installed around the masjid and five teams have been formed to track down the other accused. Police have stated that this incident was carried out with the intention of disturbing the region’s peace.
