80th anniversary of Russia’s victory over Nazi Germany

Moscow (Russia) – The Russian government has extended a formal invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the 80th Victory Day celebrations scheduled for May 9 in Moscow. The ceremony symbolizes the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.However, according to Indian government sources, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will represent India at the Victory Day parade on May 9, indicating that Prime Minister Modi is unlikely to attend in person.

Meanwhile, Russia has announced that President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit India by the end of this year, marking his first visit since the onset of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022.The date of President Putin’s visit has yet to be finalized. Though, both leaders have maintained consistent diplomatic engagement through bilateral meetings and frequent telephone conversations.
