Debate on ‘Waqf (Amendment) Bill’ continued till late night even in ‘Rajya Sabha’

New Delhi – The Waqf (Amendment) Bill moved in the morning on 02.04.2025 in Lok Sabha was passed at 2.30 a.m. After putting it to vote, the Bill was passed by 289 against 232 votes. Later, on 03.04.2025, the Bill was presented by the Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju in Rajya Sabha and the debate was going on till late night. Members of the ruling and opposition parties expressed their opinions on the Bill.

During the debate on the Bill in Lok Sabha, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey informed that in 1954, though the Parliament members had opposed the Waqf Bill, Congress Party passed it only to appease Muslims. No other country confers rights under Waqf as has been done in India. Do you want India to be an Islamic State ?
