Udupi (Karnataka) – Vishwanath, a youth, from Thellaru village in Udupi district of Karnataka was attacked by Muslim youths as he was going to take darshan at the Durgaprameshwari Temple. On reaching the Temple Vishwanath was stopped by Riyaz and his friends Rehan, Riman, Refhan; they asked Vishwanth ‘why have you come to the Temple’ ? After this there was argument between them and they beat up Vishwanth. He was severely injured and admitted to hospital. The Police said they were investigating the matter and a special unit has been created to arrest the accused. Police presence in the village has been increased.

Hindu Organisations say, that worshipping in the Temple is right of every Hindu and attacking someone like is a conspiracy to spoil the harmony of the village.

The accused is a fake journalist

Riyaz claims to be a journalist. It is being said that a board saying ‘journalist’ is put up on his house, car, and also on his coconut tree. There are many complaints registered saying that while claiming to be a journalist Riyaz is involved in many illegal activities.
