Peshawar (Pakistan) – A 56-year-old Hindu sanitation worker, Nadeem Nath, was shot dead for refusing to convert to Islam. The police have arrested the accused, Mushtaq, who has confessed to the crime.

1.Nadeem’s brother, Sagar Nath, told the police, “Mushtaq had been pressuring Nadeem to convert to Islam for the past 2-3 months. Nadeem refused every time, but he eventually fell victim to Islamic extremism. Mushtaq shot my brother in the head and warned us that if we did not convert, we would also be killed.”

2.Nadeem’s friends mentioned that he had been visibly distressed due to harassment but, as the eldest in the family, chose not to burden his loved ones. A hardworking man lost his life simply because he was a Hindu.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Cases like this highlight the ongoing persecution of Hindus in Pakistan, yet India continue to claim vigilance over minority rights. This is not expected by Hindus.
  • Throughout Indian history, there has been no recorded instance of someone being killed for refusing to convert to Hinduism. This shows that not Hindus, but extremist Muslims are cruel.
