BJP MLAs in Delhi make demands to the Police

New Delhi – Namaz on the roads are disrupting traffic, causing inconvenience to residents and sometimes affecting ambulances, school buses and other essential services. Religious freedom should be respected; but it should not be allowed to affect public order and traffic, said BJP MLA from Shakur Basti constituency in Delhi Karnail Singh, demanding a ban on offering namaz in public places. He has written a letter to the Delhi Police Commissioner in this regard. He has urged the Police to restrict religious programmes to mosques and private premises only.
Editorial PerspectiveBasically, there should be no need to make such a demand. Offering namaz in public places by causing inconvenience to the public should be made a crime. If the Police are not doing so, then action should be taken against the Police. |
