Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir) – Recently, External Affairs Minister Dr.S.Jaishankar stated that integrating PoK into India will resolve the Kashmir issue. In response, Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah criticized him saying, “Who is stopping you from reclaiming PoK ? If you look at the map of Jammu & Kashmir, you will see that a significant portion is occupied by Pakistan, but another large area is under China’s control – yet nobody talks about it.” He pointed out that China has taken control of ‘Aksai Chin’, a region that was a part of Kashmir.

During an event in London, Jaishankar remarked, “We are waiting for the return of PoK to India. If that happens, Jammu & Kashmir will see lasting peace.” While criticizing the BJP, Omar Abdullah added, “You have already divided Jammu & Kashmir into two parts. Now you claim that this is what the people of Ladakh wanted. But did you ever truly ask them what they wanted ?”
