Foreigner woman gets  Bhagawan Jagannath’s tattoo on her thigh

Seeks apology after filing of a case against her

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) – A woman from outside India got a picture of Bhagawan Jagannath ‘tattooed’ on her thigh. The picture became viral on social media. After which, a case was filed at Sahid Nagar Police Station in Bhubaneswar. As per the information given by the Police, the woman got the tattoo inked at a tattoo parlour in Bhubaneswar. This woman works with a social organisation.

Mr Subrat Mohani, one of the complainants was quoted as saying that the woman had got the ‘tattoo’ of Bhagawan Jagannath inked at an inappropriate place, hurting our religious sentiments. It is an insult to devotees of Shri Jagannath and all Hindus. Action should be taken against all the people who are involved in this incident.

The concerned woman has pleaded in a video, “I didn’t want to insult Shri Jagannath. I am a true devotee of Bhagawan Jagannath and go to the temple every day. I committed a mistake and am very sorry about it. I only told the ‘tattoo’ artist to make a ‘tattoo’ at a place which is not easily visible. I didn’t want to create any problem. I will remove that ‘tattoo’. Please forgive me for my mistake.”

The tattoo shop owner has claimed that she came to the parlour to get a tattoo of Bhagawan Jagannath inked on her thigh. Our staff advised her not to do it and get it inked on her hand instead; but she was not ready for it. I sincerely apologise for this incident. I was not in the parlour when ‘tattoo’ was done.
