Aurangzeb was an excellent administrator : SP MLA Abu Azmi

Anti-Hindu Remarks by Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi

Mumbai – Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi, while speaking to the media in the Maharashtra Legislature premises on the first day of Budget Session, stated that Aurangzeb was an excellent administrator. He claimed that under Aurangzeb’s rule, India’s borders extended to Afghanistan and Myanmar, and the country was known as the ‘Golden Bird’. During his reign, India’s GDP was 24% which attracted the British to the country. Azmi also alleged that Aurangzeb’s image is being deliberately tarnished today, asserting that he had built many temples and was not a ruthless ruler. According to him, the battles of that era were neither about religion nor about Hindus and Muslims.

Abu Azmi Walks Away After When Questioned About Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj

When asked by media journalists, ‘Was Aurangzeb justified in brutally killing Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj?’, Abu Azmi avoided the question and left without answering.

Reactions from Dignitaries

Abu Azmi should be ashamed for calling the sinful Aurangzeb as an excellent administrator! – Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister

Aurangzeb oppressed Hindus, destroyed temples, dishonoured Hindu women, and forcibly converted people. How can such a ruler be considered a good administrator? Calling him good is truly unfortunate. On the contrary, Aurangzeb was a great sinner. Abu Azmi should be ashamed of glorifying him and must apologize for insulting patriots and national heroes. We will not tolerate any disrespect toward Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

Abu Azmi is unaware of history! – Ram Kadam, MLA, BJP

Abu Azmi has no knowledge of history. His statements are completely incorrect. Tomorrow, when he comes to the assembly, I will give him a history book. Is he unaware of how Aurangzeb imprisoned Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and subjected him to extreme torture?

Do people take money to glorify Aurangzeb? – Aditya Thackeray, MLA, Thackeray Group

One must question whether those who make such statements about Aurangzeb are paid to ignite controversy. Strict action must be taken against those who insult history.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Aurangzeb’s anti-Hindu stance is well-documented in history. He destroyed countless temples, deceptively killed his own brothers, imprisoned his own father, and seized the throne for himself. How can such a ruler be called an ‘excellent administrator?’ Every Hindu is well-aware of his brutality!
  • At a time when the movie ‘Chhava’—based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj—is receiving massive attention and exposing Aurangzeb’s cruelty, how can Abu Azmi make such an audacious statement? This suggests that he no longer fears any consequences.
  • In Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Maharashtra, those who glorify Aurangzeb must face legal action!
  • Hindus should not just watch and admire ‘Chhava’ but also take a lawful and united stand against Abu Azmi for defending Aurangzeb—just as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj stood for Dharma !
