The water of the Ganga River is pure, and those who have doubts should visit my laboratory and verify it for themselves

Padma Shri award-winning scientist Dr Ajay Kumar Sonkar’s appeal

Prayagraj (UP) – “The water of the Ganga River is not just suitable for bathing but is as pure as drinking water. If anyone has even the slightest doubt, they should take Ganga water in my presence and have it tested in the laboratory to be fully assured,” appealed Padma Shri award-winning scientist Dr Ajay Kumar Sonkar. He made this statement after testing the water of the Ganga River in his laboratory. Dr Sonkar collected water samples from the Triveni Sangam and five other ghats. After three months of rigorous research, it was proven that the water of the Ganga is the purest. Bathing in the river at these locations causes no harm, as its purity has been scientifically verified in the laboratory.

Miracle of Bacteriophages: Natural purification power of Ganga

During his research, Dr Sonkar discovered that the water of the Ganga contains 1,100 types of bacteriophages, which eliminate any harmful bacteria. This self-purifying mechanism ensures that the river remains uncontaminated even after holy dips by over 57crore devotees.

Dr Sonkar’s findings,

1. The acidity (pH level) of the Ganga’s water was found to be better than normal, with no foul smell or bacterial growth. Laboratory tests of samples taken from different ghats showed a pH level between 8.4 and 8.6, which is considered excellent. No harmful bacteria developed after incubating the water samples for 14 hours. Ganga water is not only safe for bathing but does not cause any skin diseases upon contact.

2. Bacterial growth generally makes water acidic. Many bacteria produce acidic by products like lactic acid or carbonic acid during their metabolic processes, lowering the pH level of the water. As bacteria consume nutrients, they release acidic compounds, reducing the pH. However, this was not observed in the Ganga’s water samples.

If the fake claims were true, there would have been chaos

Dr Sonkar emphasised that before every Maha Kumbha, false propaganda is spread claiming that the water of the Ganga is highly polluted. However, if this were really the case, there would have been a global outcry by now, with hospitals overwhelmed by patients. Yet, due to the Ganga’s miraculous self-purification ability, even after 57 crore people bathed in it, no one fell ill. Those who spread misinformation should be questioned to explain why not even one of these 57 crore devotees reported any illness if the water were polluted.

Editorial Perspective

It is now necessary to use the same language with so-called rationalists and scientists as the saying goes, “Prove it, or accept defeat.” Only then will their so-called intellectual arrogance be crushed.
