  • Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s blunder

  • BJP alleges this reveals Congress’s filthy mindset

  • Social media users criticise the post

Mumbai – On the occasion of the 395th birth anniversary of Maharashtra’s revered icon, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, on 19thFebruary, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, offered ‘Shraddhanjali’ in a post on ‘X’. However, BJP strongly criticised him, stating, “On the occasion of Shivjanmotsav, Rahul Gandhi has deliberately displayed perversion by offering ‘Shraddhanjali’ to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Congress’ habit of using great personalities for mere political gain once again exposes its filthy mindset. The Hindu community will never forgive this anti-Shivaji Congress.”

Typically, on birth anniversaries, the term ‘Adaranjali’ is used. However, Rahul Gandhi used ‘Shraddhanjali.’ In the image attached to his post, Rahul Gandhi is seen holding a full-length idol of Shivaji Maharaj aloft. The caption read, “On the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Jayanti, I bow to him and humbly offer my Shraddhanjali. With his bravery and courage, he inspired us to raise our voices fearlessly and with full dedication. His life will always remain an inspiration to all of us.”This post has sparked widespread criticism on social media.

Editorial Perspectives

  • What right do those who insult Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in this way have to remain MP ? Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the people of India and Shivpremis (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s followers) for this blunder.
  • Rahul Gandhi does not even understand the difference between ‘Shraddhanjali’ and ‘Adaranjali.’
  • Will legal action be taken against Rahul Gandhi for making such derogatory remarks about a great historical figure ?
