The baby born to a couple in a ‘live-in-relationship’ sold for Rs 10,000

The Ulhasnagar incident

(‘live-in-relationship’ is living together without getting married)

Thane – A 21-year-old young lady who was in a live-in-relationship in Ulhasnagar, gave her 1 month baby without doing the legal process of adoption, to a couple for Rs 10,000.  When this came to light she asked that the baby be returned.

When she became pregnant her partner had promised to take care of the baby; but on the birth of that baby, he refused to do so as his financial condition was not good. (If this is what happens why enter into a live-in-relationship ? – Editor) Both the biological parents decided to give the baby to the couple who wanted to adopt a child. When the ‘Sakhi’ kendra of Ulhasnagar came to know this they took the baby into their custody from the Kalwa couple. A crime has been registered against the baby’s biological parents and the couple who had illegally tried to adopt the child.

Editorial Perspective

This is the bad effect of a live-in-relationship’. The institution of marriage in the Hindu dharma is confluence many beautiful aspects of life. It does not avoid the obligations and duties of ‘grahasthashram’, they are taken up in a happiness; but falling prey to the western concept of ‘live-in-relationship’ is destroying one’s own life.
