Anti-Terror Squad closely monitoring 10,000 suspects

Prayagraj – The stampede at Maha Kumbha is suspected not to be an accident but a planned conspiracy. In response, the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) and other security agencies are closely monitoring around 10,000 suspects. Special attention is being given to individuals actively involved in protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

During the investigation, non-Hindu individuals have been identified who were posting negative remarks about Maha Kumbha on social media. Additionally, some individuals had repeatedly searched for Maha Kumbha-related content on Google and YouTube, making them subjects of further inquiry. Authorities are also interrogating members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) from 18 districts.

Key Investigation Points :

1. Security agencies are conducting an in-depth investigation into the stampede and the fire incident at Maha Kumbha on 19th January.

2. Surveillance is being conducted on 70 suspects in Varanasi. Authorities have also requested information on certain individuals detained in jails across central and western Uttar Pradesh.

3. Sirajuddin from Jaitpura, Varanasi, was served a notice and summoned to the Anti-Terror Squad office in Ashok Vihar Colony on 3rd February for over three hours of questioning. Reports confirm that he was present at Maha Kumbha on 19th January and had livestreamed the event on social media.

4. 600 CCTV footage recordings from Maha Kumbha have been thoroughly examined. Several suspicious individuals have been identified, and eight teams are actively working to verify their identities.
