In response, Congress accuses CPI(M) of similar actions
Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) – In the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, Rahul Gandhi won in the general election, and later, his elder sister Priyanka Vadra emerged victorious in the by-election. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) has alleged that “a radical Muslim alliance played a significant role in their victories.”
CPI(M) leader’s statement :
At a meeting of CPI(M) workers and office-bearers in Sultan Bathery, CPI(M) leader Vijayaraghavan said, “Two people have been elected to the Lok Sabha from Wayanad—first Rahul Gandhi and now Priyanka Vadra. Who helped them win? It was only because of the support of the radical Muslim alliance that they succeeded. Without the backing of this alliance, Rahul Gandhi could never have entered Parliament and become the Leader of the Opposition. Priyanka Vadra’s numerous campaign rallies in Wayanad had specific individuals in the front and back rows. Do you know who they were? The most extremist individuals from the minority community with radical ideologies were part of those campaigns. These radical thinkers are closely aligned with Congress leadership.”
Vijayaraghavan has made similar allegations against Congress in the past. CPI(M) adopted the same stance in 2014, linking Congress with radical Muslim organisations after the Lok Sabha elections. This year, in April, CPI(M) reiterated similar accusations.
Congress’s counter-allegation :
Congress has responded to CPI(M)’s claims, accusing them of playing the Muslim appeasement card themselves. Congress said, “In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, CPI(M) raised the issue of Palestine solely to attract Muslim voters, which alienated Hindu voters. CPI(M) is now trying to win back Hindu voters by making these baseless accusations.”
Editorial PerspectiveBoth parties are two sides of the same coin, vying for votes through appeasement of Muslims. Both are pro-radical Muslim. Hindus must recognise this and distance themselves from them. |
