Petition for early release rejected

Mumbai – Abu Salem, who is serving a sentence for his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts, will have to complete his full 25-year sentence, as ruled by the special court under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act. The court dismissed his petition for early release, stating that he is not entitled to such a concession.
Special Judge V.D. Kedar emphasized the gravity of Salem’s crimes and referred to the Supreme Court’s order dated July 11, 2022, asserting that no special privileges can be granted to reduce his sentence.
