Guwahati (Assam) – Bangladeshis are facing massive opposition in Assam. The entry of Bangladeshi customers has been banned in hotels and restaurants in Kachar, Sribhumi and Hailakandi Districts of the Barak Valley here. “Until the attacks on Hindus stop, no Bangladeshi will be helped in any way,” the hotel owners said. Earlier, the Import-Export Association of Sribhumi District had decided to suspend all trade relations with Bangladesh.
1. Barak Valley Hotel and Restaurant Association President Babul Rai said that the situation of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh is alarming. We cannot accept this. Only if the situation improves, we can reconsider our decision.
2. Earlier in Tripura, ‘All Tripura Hotel and Restaurant Owners Association’ had refused to serve food to Bangladeshi people in restaurants. Also, the private hospital here had earlier announced that it would not treat any patient from Bangladesh.
Editorial PerspectiveThis is a commendable decision by the hotel owners in Assam who have taken this action to protest the atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. A small number of Hindus are becoming active against the attacks on Bangladeshi Hindus in India. Looking at the state of attacks on Hindus, it was expected that 100 crore Hindus in the country would create pressure on the Government of India and Bangladesh for the protection of Hindus. |
