Washington (USA) – Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta, has levelled serious accusations against the Biden administration. Zuckerberg claims that the Biden-Harris administration repeatedly pressured Meta to remove posts related to COVID-19 due to political interests. In a letter to the Judiciary Committee, Zuckerberg stated that it is wrong for the government to exert such pressure, and he regrets not speaking out on this matter earlier.
Zuckerberg’s Letter Highlights :
1. Pressure from the Biden Administration: In 2021, the Biden administration exerted pressure on Meta for months to remove content, including memes that ironically criticized COVID-19 measures. Zuckerberg mentioned that when Meta did not comply, the administration expressed displeasure.
2. Content Moderation Decisions: Zuckerberg emphasized that decisions regarding content removal are solely Meta’s responsibility. He stated, “Whether to remove the text or not is our decision. We are responsible for our decisions.”
3. Stance Against Government Pressure: Zuckerberg asserted that Meta should not bow to pressure from any government and must uphold its content standards without compromise. He affirmed that this stance would remain consistent even in future scenarios.
4. Biden Family Corruption Allegations: Ahead of the 2020 presidential election, the New York Post published a report on a corruption scandal involving the Biden family. The FBI suggested the report be investigated, labelling it as potential “Russian propaganda.”
Editorial PerspectiveThis incident once again exposes the true nature of the US, which claims to be the ‘greatest democracy.’ India should now respond appropriately to the US when it criticizes Indian democracy and accuses it of silencing opposition voices ! |
