Students hold Pakistani flag during a school play : School to be derecognised

  • Incident at a Primary School in Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh)

  • School claims that the flag was used to show a partition related scene

Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh) – The Pakistani national flag was used in a play organised on August 15 (Independence Day) in a primary school here. After getting the information about this matter, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad i.e. ABVP organised a massive protest and demanded that a case be registered against the said primary school. After this, the Ratlam District administration has started an investigation into these allegations. Ratlam’s ‘Bal Kalyan Samiti’ has issued a notice to the District education officer and ordered to derecognise the school. Regarding the incident, school Director Deepak Panth said that since the play was based on the freedom struggle, the national flag was used to depict a scene during the partition of India. It had the flags of both India and Pakistan. It was not our intention to promote the Pakistani flag. Someone filmed a particular scene, which was widely circulated on social media. We have the script of the concerned play. We organizsed a play to tell the story of freedom to students. We have apologised as well.
