All India Muslim Personal Law Board opposes Secular Civil Code
New Delhi – “In his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a ‘Secular Civil Code’ instead of a ‘Uniform Civil Code’. Muslims do not accept uniform or secular civil code. We will never compromise with ‘Muslim Personal Law’. PM Modi calling religious personal laws as communal is shocking,” stated Dr SQR Ilyas, Spokesperson of All India Muslim Personal Law Board.
In a press release by the board, Dr Ilyas said that Prime Minister Modi deliberately used secular civil code instead of uniform civil code. Prime Minister is misleading the country. Modi not only copied the Western countries by declaring laws based on religions as communal; but also insulted most of the Indians who practise the religion. Muslims in India have often said that their personal laws are based on Sharia. The parliament of the country itself has approved it. (Now the same parliament will abolish those laws and everyone will have to accept. Those who don’t agree can leave India and go to the Islamic countries around the world – Editor).
