Deputy Commissioner to manage the property of Shri Raghunath Temple in Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir HC

Srinagar – The Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh High Court has cleared all dubious transfer agreements and revenue records of 160 Kanals (20 acres) (8 Kanals equals 1 acre) of land while restoring assets worth over Rs 400 crore to Shri Raghunath Temple in Barzalla area of ​​Srinagar city. In a landmark judgement, the High Court ordered the administration to immediately acquire 140 Kanals (17.5 acres) of land estimated for the temple at Bagat-e-Barzulla (Bulbul Bagh). This land was illegally grabbed by Mian Qayyum, a senior advocate and president of the Jammu and Kashmir Bar Association. Justice Sanjeev Kumar and Justice MA Choudhary. A case related to the property of Shri Raghunath Temple was heard before the bench.

1. The High Court said that the property of the temple under the jurisdiction of the district administration would remain in the name of the temple only and would be recorded in the revenue records.

2. The financial benefit from this property will be used only for temple maintenance and other religious purposes.

3. A bank account will be opened in the name of the temple so that all the money and profits received from the temple property are properly accounted for. The Deputy Commissioner will be responsible for this account.

4. The High Court directed the Collector to seize the property of another temple of Baba Dharam Das in Barbar Shah area of ​​Srinagar city. The temple property includes 300 Kanals (37.5 acres) of land in Srinagar and Budgam. Currently this land is under the control of Jahoor Watali. Watali is currently in jail for funding terrorism.
