Mumbai, 1stAugust – In the year 2023 in Irshalwadi, Dist. Raigarh, 84 people had died due to landslide. The Disaster Management Department of the State did not wake up despite the tragedy. This is the reality. There are 400 landslide prone areas in the State. According to the information, the Disaster Management Department has not bothered to find out whether people have been relocated from there. It is being said, if there is yet another tragedy in the State like that of Irshalwadi, the callousness of the Disaster Management Department will be responsible for it.
1.The Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had called a pre- monsoon review meeting with all the administrative officers on 20thMay. He had directed the authorities to shift the people to safe places, from landslide prone areas.
2.Some districts might have carried out the orders or in some areas, people might have refused to relocate showing complete disregard to the administrative notice, but the fact remains that even after half of the monsoon season is over, there is no review about the situation by the Disaster Management Department.
3.When the representative of the Daily, Sanatan Prabhat met the officials of the Disaster management Department, they said that information about the action will have to be sought from the District Administration.

4.Just 2 days ago in the landslide disaster in Wayanad, Kerala, the number of the dead has crossed 250 . In view of this, has the Disaster Management Department shifted people from landslide prone areas ? People feel that those areas where people have not relocated must be reviewed and addressed.
