Bareilly (UP) – Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC) president Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan has postponed the proposed programme of mass marriages and conversion in the city scheduled to take place on 21st July. After the Administration took a stern stance on the matter, IMC issued a press note late at night informing that the programme had been postponed.

1. Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan said, ’23 Hindu youth in Bareilly have expressed their desire to convert to Islam and later marry Muslims’. He also informed that in the first phase, mass marriage of 5 couples will be held on 21st July. The Council had sought permission from the city magistrate in this regard.
2. Soon after receiving information about this programme, Hindu organisations staged strong protests. BJP National Treasurer Rajesh Agarwal also strongly protested and said, ‘The Administration should have taken note of this. Maulana Tauqeer Raza always makes controversial statements about Hindu festivals.
3. The Administration came into action and warned not to hold the event only after Agrawal and other devout Hindus staged strong protests.
