Mumbai – Devout Hindu organisations have taken an important decision to issue ‘Om Certificate’ to prevent the sale of prasad made from fake ghee (clear butter), cow fats and other prohibited items, to maintain the sanctity of prasad served at Hindu religious places. The movement is undertaken with the initiative of Mr Ranjit Savarkar, Chairman, ‘Swatantryaveer Savarkar Rashtriya Smarak’, and Dr Aniket Shastri Maharaj, Acharya Pithadhishwar of ‘Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti Dharma Samaj’, Maharashtra region. Various other devout Hindu organisations will extend support to this movement.

1. The movement will be undertaken starting 14thJune 2024. The certificate will be issued by ‘Om Pratishthan’ and representatives of other devout Hindu organisations will join this foundation.
2. Last year, it was found that inferior quality oil was used to make ‘Laddu-Prasad’ distributed at Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Temple, Pandharpur, a revered place across Maharashtra. The contract of making the prasad was, therefore, cancelled by Shri Vitthal Rukmini Temple Committee. Such incidents can be avoided with the help of ‘Om Certificate’.
3. ‘Om Certificate’ will be issued only after ensuring that all the ingredients used in making prasad are not contaminated and taboo as per ‘Dharma-shastra’. Devout Hindu organisations will create awareness among devotees to buy prasad from only those shops which have ‘Om Certificate’.
Issue of ‘Om Certificate’ to start from TrimbakeshwarThe issue of ‘Om Certificate’ will start from Shri Trimbakeshwar Temple, Nashik, which is one of the 12 ‘Jyotirlingas’. The decision was taken by devout Hindu organisations considering that thousands of devotees visit this pilgrimage place. |
