New Delhi – A case has been registered after Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police alleging that she was assaulted at the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence. Her statement has been recorded under Section 164 of the Indian Penal Code. After registering the case, she was medically examined at the AIIMS hospital. The Police have named Chief Minister Kejriwal’s aide Vibhav Kumar as an accused in the case. He is likely to be arrested soon.

Apart from verifying the CCTV footage at the Chief Minister’s residence, the Police will also question the staff and the Police who were present there.

Kejriwal remains silent

At a press conference in Lucknow (UP), when the journalists questioned about assault on Maliwal, Kejriwal avoided answering and remained silent. Samajwadi Party President, Akhilesh Yadav, who was present there, said, “there are more important and bigger issues than this question.”

Editorial Perspective

It is shameful for the Aam Aadmi Party that a woman MP of their own party is assaulted at the Chief Minister’s residence. The Police should conduct a thorough investigation and take stringent action against the accused.
